Tips for your trip to the communities of Maya Ka'an

Currency and payments
☘️ The official currency is the Mexican peso (MXN). In the communities there are not always terminals for card payments, so it is advisable to carry cash in small notes.
☘️ Tipping, although not obligatory, is a respectful way of thanking for services in workshops, guides or community experiences.
Language
☘️ The official language of Mexico is Spanish, spoken by about 90% of the population. The government also recognises some 68 indigenous languages, of which Mayan is one of the most widely used.
Climate
☘️ The region has a warm and humid climate.
☘️ The rainy season is from May to October, with intense but brief rains.
☘️ The hottest season is from April to August.
☘️ The dry season runs from November to April, considered the best time to visit the area.
Connectivity
☘️ In many communities, the telephone signal is limited or non-existent. For this reason, we recommend that you inform your contacts before leaving the area of good coverage and consider bringing a portable battery to recharge your phone.
☘️ Remember that in Mexico you use the plugs and sockets socket A and B.
Documentation
☘️ Always carry an official photo ID.
☘️ Keep a copy of your passport and other important documents with you.
☘️ Visa requirements may change. For the most up to date information we recommend you consult the website of the Mexican embassy in your country of origin.
Security and Health
☘️ The area where the communities are located, are very quiet areas, where the inhabitants respect visitors. However, we recommend not to bring valuables or a lot of cash.
☘️ It is important to keep an eye on your belongings.
☘️ We recommend to have a medical insurance.
